Tips To Make Your Room Larger With Contemporary Mirrors

Author: Janett Finnila

It's all about the smoke and mirrors. At least that's what they keep saying. Mirrors are a wonderful wall dcor item that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing. So why not add contemporary mirrors to your dcor?

There is all kinds of wall dcor but nothing provides the benefits of mirrors. Besides their functionality they can make a room look larger, more balanced, or more inviting.

A hallway or small room can be made to feel much larger just by adding the right mirrors on the walls.

1. Any Small Room

In a small room you need to find the longest of the walls and place your mirrors. The reflection of the light gives the illusion that the room is much wider than it is.

2. Hall

In a hall you need to alternate mirrors along the wall. This will give an illusion that the hall is much wider than it is. If you can place mirrors across from any windows you will get an added bonus of the effect of the natural scene.

3. Bedroom

Small bedrooms can be made to look larger by combining light colored walls with the right amount of light and mirrors. The mirrors will create reflectivity which will make the room look larger.

For a master bedroom you can add a touch of romance and a calming atmosphere by combining soft subtle lighting with the beveled mirrors.

4. Living Room

If your living room is on the smaller side consider adding a mirror or two. If your room has a fireplace a mirror in the center is a great way to create the illusion of grandeur while keeping the fireplace area as your focal point.

No fireplace consider using fragmentation another popular decorating technique where you arrange your mirrors near each other but not touching and you stagger them.

5. Foyer/Entrance

Choose a large beveled mirror or a floor mirror for the entrance. You might add some wall sconces to improve the lighting and increase the room size.

6. Bathroom

One of the simplest ways to give the illusion of a larger bathroom is by utilizing the vanity mirror. A larger mirror with the proper lighting can make a big difference. Another great trick is adding a long wall mirror at the end of the bath tub.

Almost every house already has mirrors in it. Start by experimenting with those mirrors you already have. Change their location, use some of the ideas provided.

You might add a frame or if you're a little artistic paint a motif on the glass. If you decide you don't like what you see then it's time to start shopping for some new mirrors.

Contemporary mirrors don't require a contemporary room. They look great in any type of room! They can be the focal point or compliment the dcor.

Mirrors are like a piece of art work. There are many different decorative frames all which have their own artistic impression. There are plenty of great retailers online that offer a terrific selection at affordable prices.

Contemporary mirrors will not only make your room look great they'll make your room look bigger. So why not give your dcor a facelift?
